There is nothing more heartwarming than seeing my crochet work being used years after I made it.

I had a boom moment about 10 years ago when I produced a lot of crochet items. Part of this involved making crocheted gifts for my friends. Sometimes I even managed to sell a few pieces. Then time would pass and I would forget that I had made something and given it to someone. Until moments like this.

One of my friends, who now actually works with my husband, came to the office last week with the bag I made for her around 10 years ago. My husband recognised it and sent me a picture right away. I was astonished, happy and proud at the same time. After all these years, the bag is still serving its purpose and is looking like new.

This is the beauty of crocheting. Work made with care from quality materials can last for years. And the special thing about it is, that it’s not only the physical thing that you get, but the emotional part of it too. The fact that someone made it for you. The fact that it was given to you for a special event or a specific reason. I love this aspect of crocheting and any other handmade work.
